Orgies return to hedonistic nude resort - White Cockatoo
From News.com.au today 12th November 2008.
A NUDIST resort wants to bring back swingers and sex parties in a bid to boost sagging tourism figures,
The Courier-Mail reports.
The White Cockatoo resort in Mossman, near Port Douglas, north Queensland, is promoting an adults-only “anything goes” month of hedonism for March next year.
Owner of the White Cockatoo Tony Fox yesterday said
It was time to lift a self-imposed swinger ban.
“Tough economic times call for stiff measures,” Mr Fox said
“We’ve taken the bull by the horns and it’s going nuts; we’re close to
Fully booked.
“It will be a hedonism resort, where anything goes for a month. We’re not using the words sex or swingers, but it doesn’t take rocket science to work out what it means.”
Three years ago the controversial resort, once billed as the nation’s top group-sex hotspot for swingers, hit the headlines when it closed its doors to partner-swapping.
The ban followed a series of out-of-control sex parties and orgies where, in one case, police were called to evict six swingers after a free-for-all sex romp in a chalet.
In another, a naked husband-and-wife in their mid-50s upset others with a rowdy display of balcony sex before breakfast.
Other guests complained of being propositioned for group sex by a stranger in her 30s.
Mr Fox said he had since imposed a strict set of rules for the ordinary nudist season.
Cairns Catholic Bishop James Foley warned: “It might only end up cheapening the whole resort operation for a short term gain.
“Anyone who goes to a hedonist’s party goes at their own risk.
“
You’ve got to wonder what sort of people go and why. Where is the moral code of behaviour and how do you stop jealousies and fights?”
But Cairns Regional Mayor Val Schier said she was not opposed to the “month of hedonism”.
“People in tropical north Queensland are extraordinarily creative,” Ms Schier said.
“And if they can create a business opportunity that does not offend any neighbours or harm anybody that is fine.
“It is tough economic times and as long as it is with consenting adults, then there is
No problem.”
And local tourism chief Doug Ryan said: “As long as whatever they do stays within the law then good on them.”
Oh dear
We were asked by the owners if we would be interested in advertising their site on couplesnet, I asked about and got such bad press from 4 couples that had been there that we decided not to allow it.
A little more digging showed two sites that had abusive dialog from the owners… not nice IMHO
From what I can see this place is nothing like the quality of hedo and also with the rules as they are I cannot understand why people would go there. Australia’s answer to Hedo? Er… no. I wonder if the owners are misrepresenting what they have got there?
If you want cheap under shelf booze and a place to go with like minded friends - go to a hotel.. save yourself the grief.
This is only my opinion.
It is a shame that those who cannot behave well smear the reputation for the rest of the lifestyle community who are very discreet and respectful.
If what has been reported in that article is true - about the behaviour of those patrons - then it’s a blow to what we know is NOT immoral and not just a drunk free-for-all.
As for the operators of places advertised for swingers, they do us all a disservice too if it’s not up to scratch.
It all just makes us look bad to those who’ve never considered these ‘lifestyle choices’ or who don’t understand them. Sigh.
Exactly - the comments will hopefully flow from one very disgruntled member on this site - WHERE ARE YOU??
I just read some of the discussion on the News site (up to about 90 comments when I went on for a look) and most were typically uneducated and moralistic responses to s topic they know nothing about.
This morning, the show after Sunrise did a 5 minute piece with 2 commentators and the brush up of it was:-
1.) The woman wanted to run around and wipe everybody down with hygeinic wipes as she thought they’d all be fat, old and smelly.
2.) She couldnt handle the ‘jealousy’ issues.
3.) The guy thought the play on words in the article was amusing and was giggling inanly about that.
4.) Apparently we all run around screwing each other after putting keys in a bowl.
No wonder we don’t want to get involved with any media outlets to promote the lifestyle. They all make it a sensationalist JOKE !
No No No - the site I am refering to is a well known site where they are ALL lifestylers. People will always have vanilla outlooks but these were LIKEMINDED people talking about it and not favourably.
According to the information I have the whole thing is a publicity stunt and they aren’t welcoming swingers at all!
Hi Luke.
They might get a shock then, we know a few going, and they are not the ’shy and retiring’ type either ! WATCH OUT NORTH QUEENSLAND !
:)
No, watch out your friends - really…. they will probably be asked to leave.
I think, as with any holiday or purchase, if you want to attend White Cockatoo, either during the resort’s “Adults Only” month of March or as nudists during the rest of the year, you would be well advised to do some THOROUGH research before booking.

You have been warned. TWICE.
If you’ve been there before and had a good time, feel free NOT to send me inflamatory emails. Just put your own experiences forward here instead.
er… can ANYONE send me some “catchwords” to enter into google?
White Cockatoo? No such animal is native to Australia. Perhaps it is an incorrect reference to the Sulphur Crested Cockatoo, a loud and pesky bird that loves ripping things apart….
Raven,
Such a concise statement.
It’s true we’ve never seen a White Cockatoo. Maybe I’ve been delusional about ever wishing to see one.
Or worse - believing that a White Cockatoo would be a friendly creature.
