We have just returned from our second trip to Desire Resort and Spa Cancun. Given that It was our second time at The resort, You would be Right to think we had a great time last year. Here is our Resort and Facilities Report. What we did will Come later…..
Resort and Facilities
Upon arrival at Desire, you are given a complimentary glass of Champagne while you are checked in. Once that is taken care of, you are immediately asked if it is your first time at Desire. If you answer yes, the time share pitch gets laid on thick and fast. If you’ve been there before, you are reminded about your time share options again. From there, the internal services message is delivered (massages, local tours, acceptable behaviour in public places within the resort, dress rules etc). The resort has upgraded all of the outdoor furniture, probably due to a hurricane last August. Gone are the standard white plastic chairs and cheap looking banana lounges around the pool, replaced with slightly sturdier and more modern look.
Water Front
Last year’s hurricane stripped a lot of the beach away, but Sand has been trucked in and it still looks gorgeous, despite being much smaller. Along the beach are double or queen sized beds with over head shade for you to lie on during the day. These are made up each day with a fresh sheet, and are very popular. Resort rules say you should approach the Beach Boy before utilising them. From our experience it’s a matter of first in, best dressed. 50% of the beds are taken by 730 am. Some guests even sleep there, and we’ve seen countless people Playing on them at all times of the day or night, even though public displays of sexual affection is technically a No – no at Desire. The beach also has several outdoor showers to cool off and remove the sand. A waitress will take food and drink orders from your bed as you soak up the sun. Fairly decadent! The Main Pool
The pool is situated at one end of the resort. The atmosphere is a fun one, with staff conducting games and giving away prizes (t shirts, tequila, massages). One welcome edition this year, was the introduction of two new games co-ordinators – both very attractive young Ladies who were not in the least bit shy! There is a bar right by the pool, or you can wait for the waitress to take your order. There are lots of lounges to lie on, but the biggest issue is the lack of shade. There are a few umbrellas and some palm trees, but not enough to go around. Easily overcome by slipping into the poolside restaurant for a snack. Sun screen lotion is a must around the pool. For some reason you have to sign for towels at the pool, under threat of a $50 no return fee!
Open from 1pm – 3pm, this is a great place to socialize and have a few drinks. It’s located on the roof and has a few beds like the ones on the beach, and some bar stools / tables in the shade. There’s also a swim up bar. The spa comfortably holds about 15 – 20 people, then cascades down into a pool area. Lockers and towels are provided. The spa and pool are not shaded, and the water temperature is very warm, so the area gets most use in the evening.
Disco
Open from around 9pm – 1pm (or later if patronised). This area stinks to high heaven. There are no windows. The air conditioning is intermittent at best. It has a bar of course and plenty of lounges and a small stage with two poles. The toilets reek of vomit. Nonetheless, it is generally well patronised every night. There is a Play room “out the back” but we only ever saw two other people in there. The play room did look like it could be a lot of fun though!
Restaurants
There are four restaurants including fine dining and Japanese. All are of an exceptional standard, except for one thing – NO FRESH MILK! Room service is available 24 hrs a day.
Other Facilities
There is a gym and tennis courts – after two years, we still don’t know where they are! Also available for use are some non motorised watercraft. Advertised as free in the brochure / website, a hobie cat (there is ONE) or a small sailing dinghy (TWO of these) will actually cost you two dollars per person. This fee is to cover use of the National Park. There are also surf skis for “free hire.” There is internet available – in your room through the TV and a remote keyboard for a fee. Also in the lobby, supposedly for a fee but we were NEVER charged.
Staff
Always friendly, pleasant and willing to help. Don’t leave any cash visible in your room when it’s getting serviced. There’s a safe in each room anyway. It’s an “all inclusive” resort, but the staff still expect to be tipped (being Australians, we found this a little weird – it’s “all inclusive,” right?).

Our freinds just got back from Desire Cancun, and they are raving about it.
We are off to their house tonight to catch up and see the photos etc. They are not the type to get on here and Blog unfortunately, so I will try and get some info to print.
They just LOVED it, and said the photos on the website do not do it justice anymore.
hmmm the thing that puts me off? Tipping (absolute no no at cabos) and also the time share - at los cabos you are told to go directly outside (the airport) to AVOID the timeshare idiots - do you wear the white band at Cancun too?
We took ours off as it did not match our skin tone
Paula, the bands are there. We wear ours around our ankle.
The tipping is not compulsory, but a few pesos is nothing really.
The time share thing was IN the resort...
We just spent 3 hours with our buddies JUST back from Cancun. They LOVED IT ! and are planning on going back, but to Los Cabos in Sept 2009. I have even convenced "him" to write us a report on Cancun for couples.net.au. He is a very amusing writer too, so it should be good.
The stories they had, and they are by no means hardcore, were so funny. Its a place we are determined to visit - and soon !
Fipty - that puts me off ever going to cancun, timeshare creeps give me the shits big time.

Hey swingfest - before you book make sure you are not going in hurricane season (runs from Aug - sep) we saw the pics of cabo AFTER we Left (one week later) and the place was wrecked...
Forgot to mention. The trip planned in Sept 09 is not us, but they guys who juts got back. They want to take a bunch of Aussies over. I will pass on the info too them. Its important to know, as the resort will probably not tell them. Cheers
Well we arrived at Desire Cancun - about the time this Blog Commenced.
Fipty was very descriptive about the place - so i won't go into describing the resort - but rather our experiences.
We arrived on a Sunday Night about 7pm after being stuck in Cancun airport for 2 hours to get thru customs only to discover we had lost 2 bags.
Now i know what everyone is thinking - it's a nudist resort - you don't need your bags - but it had all the cosmetics/hair products, underarm, aftershave etc . . so we were a bit uncomfortable until bags arrived 2 days later - sighs.
We walked in - were given a drink - and they said "WELCOME Home" and thats just how we felt.
We instantly loved the place. We were never harassed once about any Timeshare - actually it came as a surprise to hear it mentioned . . because not one guest during our stay mentioned it either?
We had booked a passion suite - it comes complete with it's own butler (Which Mrs Spice instantly thought was HOT) and our room had a massive spa within. Our room was ground floor beachfront right next to the pool - was an excellent spot - because we are not sunworshippers and it allowed us to get out of the sun.
We instantly hit the bar after being shown our room - and oh my god - it was also Karaoke Night - which mean't within 3 minutes of our arrival and actually meeting people - i was on stage singing "twist and shout".
Have to say it worked famously for us - as people kept coming up and introducing themselves immediately (also helps that Mrs Spice is HOT)
We clicked in immediately - and being the only Aussies there - we were like the flavour of the resort.
We thought the disco was great - never had any issues with smells - and the toilets were always spotless - so i am thinking it may have been a guest issue during fipty's stay.
The play room was great . . Yep we used it.
The jacuzzi bar gets rocking at night - but once you are loaded with drink - which just seems compulsory at Desire (oooohhh the frozen Margharita's) the spa was just too hot.
We would typically end up on the play beds on the Jacuzzi bar and make out etc under the stars - it was awesome - and having 6 beds in a row - all with similar or combinations thereof - having similar action - was quite surreal.
The Food - Sensational
The Drinks - Sensational
The Service - Sensational
We did visit the Gym - they had a steam room in the Male and Female Bathrooms that was Huge - and well . . . was also a great place for action . . Bows head in embarrassment.
Whilst in the Gym - we heard this women - going off her head - and we were like - what is happening in there - the staff replied - "couples massage".
So we booked one immediately.
OMFG - yep - i am sure we made the same howling noises - i cant really describe the Massage other than saying . . they are like puppeteers using your body with your partners - in a very oily fashion - in just the best way . . . WOW.
You would order a drink whilst sitting anywhere - and before it's completely finished the staff would just give you a fresh one.
WE LOVED THE PLACE.
Now like any club - you do have many different types. I guess being reasonably experienced - and knowing how we like to interact - meant we could manage the types easily.
The HUNTERS for instance got the message very clearly to Bugger Off - whilst we could still chat with them. We set good boundaries.
The funniest - or should i say off thing - was how the Hunters would chase the fresh meat around the pool - they were typically hung like a horse - and would go over and stand next to the new couple lying on their sunbeds. It mean't the poor woman - had this large Cock - just dangling at eye level - It was like Marlin Fishing Wayne . . . Some probably liked it - me personally would have asked him to move because his cock was blocking out the SUN. hehehe
It was simply the best experience.
We went to Chitzen Itza for a day trip and that was amazing too. The beach was great - Can i say it again . . WE LOVED THE PLACE....WELCOME HOME.
So....regardless of our Swinging pace . . this resort was great. We didn't play at all . . . though we would have . . . except the free drinks caught up on one of us during the "warm up" - and Mrs Spice had to leave suddenly . . I too had one night like that . . where i ended up sleeping on a pool chair all night - only to be woken by guests next morning asking me if i was ok. . . hehehe.
The RESORT IS ALL INCLUSIVE. Yep everything is at your disposal. The drinks and food keep on coming - as Fipty said the restaurants were great.
OUR TIPS:
1. Because everyone is naked all the time...at night when people dress up . . they all look hot. So girls take great costumes - because funnily enough i perved more at dressed women then naked ones.
2. Guys make an effort at night too. Most of the guys didnt make that much effort with the dress up - and were then in the disco - with shirts off . . yet i was always well dressed, and i thi...
Some of the 'nuances' about the hunters gets a bit lost on the page, and I wish I could transpose some of your facial expressions when you told us about them. That was priceless !
Can you imagine if we organised a 'GROUP' from AUS ? 'Swingfest on tour' anyone ?
Mr Swingfest made a comment about facial expressions . . . and to help you other readers better understand - i thought i would be descriptive - linking facial expressions.
1. WOW = Facial Expression - when the swedish mud wrestling team come up to you and ask if they can use you as their personal sexual toy.
2. HUNTER = Facial Expression - you know the type who introduces themselves after they asked if you'd like to fuck. (they have syntax issues)
3. FIRST IMPRESSION DESIRE = Facial Expression - A kid on Christmas morning - or anytime a woman actually says "yes" to me

And it's now 20% dearer because of exchange rates - sigh.
That will be 30% by tomorrow morning Mr Spice ! Good thing is though, my stuff is now 30% cheaper for the Yanks to buy (Not that many have any cash at the moment LOL)
Seriously, if anyone wants to get a group together for a trip to Desire Cancun or Los Cabos, then let's do it.
I was thinking early 2010. That gives everyone time to get their affairs in order.
We would need to book about six months in advance for a group...so final numbers around June / July 2009.

Good idea fip. We would promote it on here as much as we can. I think it would be great. Another thing to consider is something a little closer to home.

Oh and another thing, if we do promote it on here it would be strictly on the basis that we get nothing out of it. We're not in the business of setting ourselves up as amateur travel agents.
