By all accounts The party at Burleigh was huge. Happy Birthday Utopia - It's been a tumultuous year. Here's W's story of the night.
Utopia Swingers Club celebrated their 2nd Birthday Party the weekend just gone.
Even up till 5pm on Saturday of the party, there was work still being completed to get the club just Right. Renee will gladly tell You that there is still more stuff to be done until the club is up to the standard she really wants. Extra stuff that's been added since we last talked about the place are:- A new "star field" light system in the main dance room, that looks like the stars of the Southern sky, YES, if you look closely there is even a "Southern Cross" hidden in there ! There is also some really swish colour changing lights behind the walls near the dance floor that add a really sexy ambient glow to the whole room. The 2nd Pole is in, and they have also added a horizontal "pussycat" pole on the edge of the dance floor for the Ladies to emulate the "pussycat dolls" film clip that's been so popular lately. A new outdoor heater in the beer garden was a popular addition; with many a call of "get out of my HEAT" on Saturday night as the temp dropped a bit.
We turned up at 8.20pm and the club already had a crowd at the bar - a good omen for the evening! There were also some brilliant outfits in the crowd, and B & L (from here) should be congratulated for wearing the "DICE". God it was funny Watching you 2 trying to get through the crowd and round corners! Lol Well done you looked fabulous !
We put our champers in the fridge for Pommie Pete and Olivia too look after and distribute during the night and wandered outside to catch up with people already parked near the heater. It was great seeing the regulars and new couples mingling so early.
By around 10pm the place was packed! And I mean PACKED ! It was a struggle at times to get from the bar, back to the outside area to try and find "L". She was having a Ball, and I found it hard at times dragging her back inside for a dance. There were so many new faces and people to meet. Dressed as Elvis, it wasn't hard walking up to 'Newbies' and starting a conversation. There were people from Mt Isa, Northern NSW, Brisbane, Toowoomba and the Sunshine Coast that we hadn't seen before. Its great that the advertising and word of mouth about the new club is drawing people in from these sorts of distances.
The dance floor was really pumping all night, and once it started to fill, it stayed that way until Renee and Jeff made a short speech and cut the birthday cake. Renee was quick to point out that even though they owned the club, it was all the people who had worked so hard to rebuild it, and all the people who had Come down that really made Utopia what it is. Any club will only be as good as the people it attracts, and I can categorically state, that Utopia now attracts one of the nicest crowds of Swingers "L" and I have ever had the pleasure of spending time with. The newbies are always made to feel welcome, and No one is Left to sit back and allowed to look bored.
I took it upon myself to walk a few people through the club, as Renee and Jeff were just too busy. I love finding out the motivations of people coming to clubs, and am always interested in hearing how they compare clubs and the people that go to them. I didn't hear any negatives, other than one couple, who said it was "too busy" for them. I assured them that a regular night would probably suit them better, and re-iterated that the 250+ crowd that were in the club tonight was an unusual occurrence due to the party.
Around midnight "BEAR" and his Mate Jess, the two male dancers from Gold Coast Swingfest put on a terrific show for the girls. Anytime bear turns up, the women go nuts. He's such a funny guy, and really makes the women melt. The regular girls then took over the dance floor and poles, and the men at least had something to keep them entertained. Once again, congrats to a whole bunch of the ladies who dressed up as skimpy Vegas "showgirls" for the night, you all looked absolutely bloody terrific... especially flying around on the poles !
I only managed to get upstairs a couple of times during the night, as party mode kept me down on the dance floor, but every time I did go up, all the playrooms were full, and the balcony had a heap of people sitting and chatting. The massage table was booked all night too, and every time I walked past some sexy lady was lying prone all oiled up and looking content.
To sum up the night........... HUGE !
We managed to slip away around 3, as we had a bunch of people crashing at our house, and "L" had well and truly hit the wall. The crowd had thinned down, but people were still in the playrooms, and the outside area was still full. There were a large number of new people still there too, so they obviously were having fun.
Pommie Pete and Olivia looked like they had been run through the ringer; I have NEVER seen 2 people work so hard behind a bar. There were no delays in getting drinks as opposed to the first birthday party, so the new setup looks to be working well. These 2 deserve an award from R & J, they were tireless! Michelle and Louise manned the front desk and organized the food etc, and they handled it faultlessly, even with the queues early on. I am sure Renee has a list a mile long of people who contributed in making the night what it was, so I will leave her to that.
"L" and I would like to take this opportunity to thank Renee and Jeff for having the tenacity and courage to move forward and rebuild. We know firsthand the kind of roadblocks that have been put in front of them. Without people such as them, swingers would have nowhere to go and meet other good people, and we have met some of the BEST at Utopia! (We've been invited to a wedding where the couple got engaged at the club!!! - IMAGINE THAT!) Renee and Jeff - you are the best, and you run one of the best establishments in the country, THANKS FROM ALL OF THE UTOPIANS !
p.s. A big sorry to Renee from me too... for cutting her finger on a Champagne flute when we were having a tussle over the glass. The dried pool of blood will always remind us of how good a night it was.

A heap of thank yous have gone out personally as there are to many to list here. Although I would like to thank everyone for supporting Utopia over the last two years and making the club what it is today, without you all we wouldn't have a club.
Just a couple of things you missed 'W' was the guy who put his foot through the dance floor! I don't now how he managed it, but he must still have a sore leg!!
And the guy who was annoying everyone towards the end of the night, especially me if anyone noticed ~ he did actually ring me and apologise, so all is good from that perspective.
The guys that put on a "show" with Bear, were Jazz & Michael who once again rocked the whole place. If you would like to book them at some stage let me know and I will give you their details
We will be eating cake for a month! I think the birthday cake looked sooooo good no one wanted to damage it and again if you are looking for a special cake, let me know.
It was my thumb that got caught up in the frivolities, but it's OK it only needed 3 stitches! Judging by your typing it looks like your thumb has come out in sympathy!
